I saw it and I totally agree with the above.
After 14 years of being on this board especially, it is not the same. I am definitely sad to see it go though. I have had many great discussions with many great posters.

I'll miss the good exchanges and posters, not all the attacks and name-calling posing as commentary. Not so much with The View, but with movies I have just watched, I like to come to IMDb and see what other people thought about it. Where would be another good site for that? AV Club?

Megustan, I honestly do not know. To me Facebook is not a good alternative because it's just too open. The great thing about this site is, you can discuss things without everyone knowing your private business.

Not so much with The View, but with movies I have just watched, I like to come to IMDb and see what other people thought about it.
I feel the same way, Me Gustan. I always like browsing through a film's message boards to read the questions, insights and debates that other posters have left about a movie. I'm sorry to see these message boards go mostly for that reason! I was also sad when Television Without Pity (TWOP) closed.
Ah well, nothing lasts forever - not even Trump's presidency! Peace out, y'all. This has been an entertaining message board for sure.

Anyone remember TV.tome? That was another fantastic television site with message boards. TV.com took it over and then shut it down.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could "discuss" politics instead of 'argue' about it? Suppose that's never been very possible, but it does seem like it's becoming increasingly less and less so.
IMDb's msg. suggested alternative channels for continuing communication, but I don't have a Facebook nor Tweeter account so this is the end of the road for me.
Although I'll easily get over losing a forum in which it's been easy for some to expose and spread their bigotry, ignorance, and hatred, I'll miss the opportunity to exchange and learn from the communication with others who share my love and interest in the entertainment and film industry.

I only hope it is an IMDB-thing and not the beginning of Trump et al shutting down ways to discuss him in a negative light. He has already shut down the White House call-in line, you can still email if you go with www.whitehouse.gov/contact.
If so, we would find out soon, if he wipes out FB and twitter. Maybe the entire internet. He's operating w/ impunity and on top of the world. So many despise him and he thinks he can get rid of us. Oh well, there are still only 22% of "them" out there. Hopefully they will wise up. I wish them that.

A_L: We haven't always agreed but I always appreciated that you took your time to participate. And, when I felt you were right on the mark, I cheered. Trying to pin the closing of this board on any one person is laughable. We've all gotten pretty hot at one time or another.

Thanks nananow, I feel the same. And I don't understand the specific pin-point of me as the sole perpetrator of "unacceptable" posts. I can think of several other posters of the conservative-leaning thinking who have posted very outlandish and offensive things on here - not sure why I am being targeted.
And I'm also still waiting for pvd and the others who have thrown accusations to show just one time where I have ever said anything "racist" or "misogynistic" on here. Never have I said anything racist - I have always promoted that everybody should be treated equal and with respect. And as a woman, I certainly can't think of anything I have ever even suggested that could be misogynistic. Craziness. How can you blame Al (especially with those specific accusations)? Of all the boards on here, The View board is responsible? Highly doubtful.
I think the people who use ignore first are the ones to report before anybody.
This isn't the only board I read. A lot of them sling do-do back and forth. Read some of them. They all seem to blame a particular poster or two for the demise of the boards.

This doesn't make any sense though? Yes there is a lot of negativity on many imdb message boards, but imdb also gave us the ignore button option. Why shutdown an entire message board site when: 1. There are many good posters on here who do contribute good & thought provoking conversations & 2. We all have the ignore button option
