The View : Ivanka's new scandal - Kugelgate!

There's something about these Trump women that they just can't stop taking credit for something which is not their own. Melania was caught with her panties down with 'Speechgate' at the RNC (in which she plagiarized parts of Michelle Obama's speech), and now Ivanka is trying to down-play 'Kugelgate'.

Seems daddy's little girl published a recipe on her own website earlier this year for
'broccoli kugel' - claiming this was her 'family favorite'. A few days ago, it was revealed that the recipe - word for word - was taken from well-known Jewish cookbook author Jamie Geller back in 2011, on her 'Joy of Kosher' website.

Ivanka's self proclaimed 'family favorite' is a copy of Geller's; word for word, ingredient by ingredient. Trump tweaked it just a bit - instead of using the term 'frozen cut broccoli', she used 'frozen broccoli florets'. And at the end of the recipe she tagged on 'You can serve this hot or cold'.

No where on Trump's site did she credit Geller, until a few days ago when Krugelgate hit. Her site did not respond to inquiries about the scandal, but a mention crediting Geller was quietly posted on Friday.

A spokesperson for Geller, who lives in Israel, commented 'We're not fazed by it'.

That is clearly a violation of the Constitution!! I am SO GLAD that I am not a celebrity. I have made meatloaf with a recipe that Ann Landers printed years ago andwait for itit is a "family favorite"!!! I have even, heaven forbid, given the recipe to other people and I didn't cite Ann as the creator of it!!

I prefer hummus with my broccoli. Broccoli kugel doesn't look too appetizing, but Ivanka should respect copyright. Let's hope this is the last of the veggie scandals, but Trump's face often looks like a pumpkin.

I remember I came under attack by the "usual suspects" a few weeks ago when I brought up the news that the fashion industry was staying far away from Melania, and boycotting her for the inaugural.

Same responses: 'just like Storm', '2 sides of the same coin', etc. thinking it was a non-issue.

Here it is, and the story has exploded - even being addressed on 'The View' last week, and the list is growing of designers boycotting Melania.

If they honestly can't tell the difference between what I post and what Storm posts, it means they're really not reading my postings. So be it

Here is a self-described 'successful independent business woman' who has a website promoting female empowerment, as well as female entrepreneurship, and advises on how to balance work and family life and be successful at both. Yet she copies another business woman's work (recipe) from the other successful business woman's website, and has absolutely no regard for copyright infringement and other legalities. And even calls it 'her favorite family recipe', yet not crediting the source of where this came from.

So is the real message she's sending out to empower women to be successful in the business world that it's perfectly OK to lie, cheat and steal to get ahead while breaking the law? That's the subliminal message implied.

She has already gotten into legal trouble for copying a shoe design from a famous designer and calling it her 'own', and you would think she would learn from that and correct her mistakes. Her father's current wife (who will soon be First Lady) has gotten into trouble for copying Michelle Obama's speech, as well as lying throughout her own website - which was abruptly taken down this summer. So you would think Ivanka - the successful business woman - would be much more careful in her own doings, while advising her 'followers'.

To be fair, Ivanka may not have even known the origin of the recipe. This is truly a non-issue, and people behaving as if it is are a large part of what's wrong in the world. Focus on real issues, not this kind of stuff.

So what? Just because other sites have it on their site (whether legally or not) doesn't mean Ivanka gets to do it illegally, as well. And how many of those sites are done by a President-elect's off-spring who should have learned by the egregious mistakes her family has set already?

And herein lies the problem of why Trump is our President today. Instead of paying attention to him as soon as he stepped his foot off the escalator, everyone laughed him off and called him a non-issue, and gave him passes. Everyone focused on more important names. Instead of looking into his past and history of racist behavior and misogyny, everyone gave him a pass, because he was a summer novelty who was going to be gone by Labor Day, 2015. Instead we focused on the 'real candidates' - Bush, Rubio, Christienot Trump kind of stuff.

And now he's our President-elect. Maybe we should take these 'non-issues' a little more seriously?

The outsourcing is a big deal and an issue. The recipe that's already all over the internet without credit or reference to the author you named is not.

It WOULD be a huge scandal and a problem for the country if Donald and Ivanka were a "two for one, blue plate special" (aka BILL and HILL) and her daddy puts her in charge of ONE SIXTH of the economy, i.e., health care.

Until then I think the Republic will survive shoe-gate and recipe-gate. If it can survive having national security secrets compromised by Hillary, it'll survive. Don't cry.
