The View : Is it condescending the way Sonny tilts her head when talking to…?

I notice that a lot of times when Joy and Whoopi are arguing with Paula or Jed, Sonny will then cut in, tilt her head, make this sort of squinted face, and talk in this slow sugary voice? Is it just me or is this beyond condescending. Paula looks disgusted with her and quickly stands up to Sonny, but Jed doesn't stand up to Sonny all that much. Ironically, Jed is better at standing up to WHoopi than she is standing up to Sonny. Sonny is actually afraid of Whoopi.

Yea, I am glad I am not the only person who notices it. I do have to disagree though because I don't see her dare tilting her head like that at Whoopi.

I agree that she doesn't do it to Whoopi now, but she did when she first started rotating on the show. I think she's just condescending like that in real life.

Honestly, I think you're right. Even though I agree with a lot of what she says and love the way she speaks for disadvantaged groups like racial minorities, women, gays, etc., it just gets on my nerves the way she brags about legal careers and education. Let others praise you on your accomplishments. You don't always have to brag about your education and knowledge. This woman is such a condescending, arrogant know-it-all. I love it when Whoopi knocks her down a peg, though then we have to deal with Whoopi's own version of being a know-it-all before long.

I've noticed it as well. SHe reminds me of when Dana Carvey played 'The Church Lady' and would tilt his head towards his 'guests' and suck in his lips and talk sugary sweet. Very condescending.

I would like to know her reaction if someone did this to her?

I think the head tilt may have to do with her trying to keep reading her note cards while speaking. The so called sugary voice may be her legal speaking voice, trying to keep it all professional when her instinct is to talk loudly and get real excited. One of my best friends once told me that you can read my thoughts just by looking at the expression on my face so I have a hard time negotiating, being stern with toddlers or hiding my displeasure or joy. Some people can modulate their face and their voice to not show those emotions and I think that is what Sunny does using skills from her legal days.

I thought that was only me. I actually agree with her a lot but ironically in the same moment find myself incredibly annoyed and aggravated for some reason by her and even her opinions I have agreed with. It is the weirdest ambivalent feeling where she can say something you agree with, accept as fact but just annoy you. Maybe it's because she has to remind you that she is a legal expert, has worked at the top, and has high credentials before everything she says.

She comes off as condescending to me as well on more than a couple of occasions. And as a side note, I remember one day when both her and Paula were on there, when they came out, she started towards the seat next to Whoopi and Paula directed her to the seat where Jeddidiah sits. Somewhat like sending her to the "kids table"

She is a know it all and complete pompous ass!
