I've wondered this myself. The world suddenly seemed to turn against her.

For me, I was rubbed the wrong way watching her during interviews for Les Miserables. She recreated a role her own mother did in the past and was gushing about it during interviews. Something struck me as over the top about it (as in, too full of her self importance).

I don't know why I felt this way because I would've been proud to recreate a role my mom did in the past and I'm sure I would've discussed it in interviews, too.

I still say she's beautiful and a great actress. I felt badly for her because of the backlash. If I had heard reports of her being a diva off screen, at least I would've had a reason.

Maybe it's because she thinks she is hot but she is not. And now she likes to show her boobs and stuff - as if we want to see it.

In 'The Princess Diaries', when they were giving her a makeover - removed the glasses, fixed her hair, I kept waiting for them to take off the fake nose but it turns out it's her real nose. I just saw an ad for her new movie and she still has the same honking big nose.

Maybe if she could get over herself some people may like her. I personally just don't care much for her or her acting. But I understand there are plenty who do so whoop-de-doo.

How exactly does she think she's hot? Getting nude for a role is just that, a role, and tons of actresses attractive or not, have done it. I see many of these same baseless comments directed towards a lot of actors and actresses, that they think highly of themselves in some ways but they never provide any logical reasons as why they think that way.

Publications? In this case, you mean gossip? Because those are always reliable, right? Personally I'd prefer to see people justify their own claims and opinions, because I like being reassured that the people I'm talking to aren't mindless sheep.

Everyone in this thread is discussing her person. I don't think that's it. She obviously is not a bad person.

(Although, I met her not so long ago and she isn't 100% wonderful. She had a way of how she treated those around her as she was better than them. But that's fame of course).

She's not that hated, but most of the people who dislike her do indeed dislike her because of her public persona. In fact I've seen many who admit to loving her work as an actress but still dislike her for her public persona, which I don't really understand since she seemed perfectly fine to me.

Really? I've heard from many people who've met or worked with her say that she is incredibly nice and humble, but you can't always catch everyone on a good day I guess.

Um, I think you do. It's like the saying "You don't know until you've tried it" or "Don't judge a book on its cover". You can't know for sure you won't like someone until you've actually spent time with them. I've known people whom I thought were a certain type of person, until I actually sat down and actually had a talk with them did I find out that they were completely different. Even very recently in college, I met a girl who gave off the impression that she was completely extroverted and wild, until one day I actually sat down and talked to her alone did I realize that we were a lot more alike than I thought. My point is, how can you comment on her niceness without having met her? It's this judgmental attitude that I often can't stand from people.

I've seen a lot of interviews from her, and she's never appeared as being rude or cocky, and she certainly isn't anymore snarky than any other celebrity. I'm not asking you to like her, just merely suggesting that you hold off on making assumptions on the personality of someone that you've never met.

Sure, you've made some incorrect assumptions about people before knowing them, but surely you've also made assumptions that turned out to be right once you got to know others?

I didn't comment on her niceness, because I've never met her. I merely stated she hasn't done or said anything to lead me to assume that she is cocky or a bad person. At the same time she hasn't done anything to make me automatically assume that she is necessarily a nice person either. What I was saying was that she doesn't really act any differently from other celebrities, which is why there is little there for me to assume anything about her one way or the other. My point is that I am remaining impartial until I actually meet her, which probably won't ever happen but still.

You see it in real life. The biggest jerks are well-liked these days, and the classy well-mannered people are hated. If she were caught drunk, or if she released a porno of herself on youtube, her popularity would soar. Its a topsy-turvy world. In a way, she's a throwback, and throwbacks really disturb many of the young people. She really doesn't fit her generation.

Good in Interstellar. Good actress all round. Can't get all the hate.

I don't think she's hated but the machine is always pushing her. Not a bad actress or bad looking but just overrated in every way. Paltrow, Portman and Hathaway were born with the golden ticket and that's fine but they made it big because of connections not talent.

Well, I got on this board to see if there was any specific reason why Anne is hated so much. After reading these posts it's obvious that there is no specific Reason for the hate she receives. I'm not a huge fan of hers. My wife loves the Princess Diaries and The Devil Wares Prada, not my kinda films, but I was surprised to see her in the Dark Knight movie as Catwoman, she did an excellent job in that film, my kinda film. All the haters on this board hate her for their own personal idiotic reasons. She is pretty, versatile, and best of all she can act.

Cameron Diaz brags about driving an electric car. She doesn't have kids, she has assistants who can get her things which can't fit in her car. And, she makes $10 million doing a movie in which they crash dozens of cars, blow up things, and do more damage to the environment than most people do in their life.

Or how they whine about a lack of jobs for the average person, while supporting politicians who tax and regulate industrial jobs out of the country.

Or how the tax rate is unfair. It is beneficial to the wealthy, and then they take all of the tax deductions/credits they can.

It is pretty easy to understand actually.
