Buffy the Vampire Slayer : Favorite Big Bad

Favorite Big Bad

We got less than 2 weeks til the site shuts down these boards, so lets make this thread a good one

Who's your favorite big bad? *its hard to determine for s6*

The Master
Angel
The Mayor
Adam
Glory
The Trio
Willow
The First

Mine had to be Glory. Chick was badass

Re: Favorite Big Bad

I'm gonna say the mayor as the villain itself, but my favorite final fight with a big bad is actually Adam. It was just so cool to watch.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

Glory's just hella entertaining. Perfectly cast and acted. Mayor was pretty threatening, but he lacked the charm Glory had. I love Angelus for the great emotional impact he had on Buffy, but it was kind of made me sad to see Angel being replaced by him when I first watched it that the enjoyable-ness of Glory was also just not there. Then Willow, then The Master, then Adam, then The Trio (sooo stupid), and The First.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

1. Angelus
2. The Master
3. The Mayor
4. Adam

5. Willow
6. The First

7. Glory (definitely the worst villain)

Re: Favorite Big Bad

I agree with your list except for glory

Re: Favorite Big Bad

I've always loved Angelus Turing bad

Re: Favorite Big Bad

I'm gonna throw a curve ball at this topic and say my favorite Big Bad was the ORIGINAL baddie who started it all. No, not Heinrich, the Master of the Order of Aurelius. The one BEFORE him who spans not just our Slayer but 20+. The one who convinced our Sunlit Slayer that her own unique style (or "keen fashion sense" as she put it, at the time) was more important than stuffy ol' traditions. The one who successfully killed her Watcher and made her realize the gravity of her destiny AND the importance of not letting it take over her life.

My favorite Big Badis Lothos.

I know many likely wouldn't consider him "Big Bad" status but hear me out. He was Buffy's first vampire master and (since we're being honest) one of her most impressive slays. He killed 20+ well-trained Slayers with ease. Some of those girls were even discovered as Potentials and trained to be the One Girl before becoming the One Girl. But, he killed them all. On top of this, he army was a mix of the old way and modern style. Thus, we can surmise he was a vampire master who believed in innovating. He kept what worked and improved upon what didn't.

In Season 1, there wasn't much faith in Buffy as a Slayer. Heck, in Season 3, there wasn't much faith in Buffy, as seen with Quentin Travers. BUT, there was still faith. And I think this came from slaying Lothos. He was Buffy's first "FU" to the Watcher's Council and their ways. How could their well-trained, perfectly polished tools not stop this vampire master but an UNDISCOVERED, recently called Potential who refuses to truly embrace their definition of what it means to be THEIR Slayer do so in weeks/months? How can a girl who refused to relinquish her normal life and continue to be a-a CHEERLEADER be the key to stopping a scourge worse than the Whirlwind?!?

I'm sure many of them rationalized Buffy's defeat of Lothos as of "fluke".but then she stops the Master of the Order of Aurelius. Then Angelus, leader of the Whirlwind. Heck, she beat ANOTHER vampire master Kakistos AND the rogue Slayer who feared him. A rogue Slayer who had not one, but FOUR Watchers, mind you (her original Watcher, Gwendolyn Post, Giles, and Wesley). Don't even get me started on how lackluster Kendra was despite being trained since she was 2. At this point, none among them could "rationalize" Buffy's skill away.

And it all started with her first Big Bad: Lothos.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

A tie between Angel and Glory.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

Glory has her appeal as does the Mayor but Angelus/Spike/Dru are the best, the secret to a great show is to make the villains as interesting as the heroes.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

Angel all the way. I like Angel when he's good, at least after he went to his own show and he wasn't whining all the time, there were times in Buffy I thought he was kind of one dementional and boring. However, no matter which show he was always the most entertaining and interesting when he was evil.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

Adam. I thought George Hertzberg did a very good job in portraying such a unique blend of BB. yes.gif

Re: Favorite Big Bad

Faith

Re: Favorite Big Bad

The Mayor.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

Willow, because of the flaying alive thing. That was shocking!

Re: Favorite Big Bad

Glory and the Mayor with a special mention of Caleb. Adam was the worst.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

I'm gonna go with Angelus as the best, with my second personal favorite being Caleb. Is it obvious? Lol

So many stories, so little time.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

Is it obvious?

Kinda 😝

"with a special mention of Caleb"

Oh, Caleb was a Great Villain.

Re: Favorite Big Bad

I liked all of the Big Bad.

My favorite that Buffy and friends defeated was The Mayor. He's the one that used Faith against Buffy. It only brought Buffy and Faith closer in friendship way after the fact. That entire storyline was such delicious drama and action.
