Buffy the Vampire Slayer : Who else on here is older than the characters now?
Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I'm 35. I haven't rewatched Buffy for YEARS. I gave away my DVDs. I think. It sold em.
I started to rewatch the whole series from Welcome to the Hellmouth.
But I couldn't get past the dire Buffy vs Dracula ep.

really? that episode is what stops you? its not that bad of an episode. far better than some seasons 1 and 4 episodes. plus, some of the best episodes come shortly after.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I'm 36. Nothing has changed. Buffy is still my favorite show.
Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I am older than the characters now and also older than some of the actresses were when they were on the show. That's the weirdest part because I still feel like they look so much older than I do.
For example, in season two SMG would have been 19, and Charisma and Robia were 26. In season three, Eliza was 16. I am 28, yet when I watch those seasons I feel like those actresses look older than I do. Eliza and Robia definitely looked far older than their ages, I thought. SMG and Charisma I think looked the ages that they were, but I just look very young for my age (often mistaken for a teenager). I also grew up watching this show from the time I was 8, so the characters and actors/actresses were always older than me for the longest time. I don't know if that could change how I see them or not.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I'm 61, I started watching Buffy during season 3 and it is still my favorite TV show, ever. I guess I could see how you might find it surreal watching the same characters as you grew up and surpassed them in age (though a lot of it is probably just the difference in perspective between when you were young and as an adult) but for me, it was just great writing and acting the age of the characters was irrelevant.
Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I am 44 I was 38 when I watched BtVS first time, in 2011.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
Yeah I agree that the ages are irrelevant cos the show is so good, I just thought it was interesting.
But yeah, as has been mentioned a lot, they definitely look old for their age.
In Season 4, they look a HELL of a lot older than most Freshmen (at least here in the UK).
And in Season 5-6, I think they all pretty much look/behave as if they are in their mid-20s.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
Well if Buffy ever came back, nobody will feel old anymore, when the characters would be around the age half of us are now or older.
It doesn't bother me, now being older than the characters in my late 20s. Because I have fond memories of being younger when I watched it.
At this rate, you might even relate more to Joyce and Giles being close to the age they are, whenever you watch Buffy and you are in your 40s. So can see Buffy from a different point of view then.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
Me! I just turned 22! I'm so sad. I want to go back to middle school where I first discovered this show!
Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I am in my 30s and watched 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' the first time it aired on Channel 7 here in Australia and it does make me feel old knowing it first aired 20 years ago and there are fans watching the show now that weren't even born when it was on but you are only as old as you are inside your heart.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I've been older than the characters for over a decade. It's never really been a big issue for me.
However, the realization of my age did hit me when I realized WWE's rookies were far younger than I was when for over 20 years, they were older.
Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I'm roughly the same age as the characters (as in, I'm 35, and they'd be between 34-36, the show was inconsistent on Buffy's birth) now, and twice the age they were when the series began.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I'm 28 years old and yeah it's a bit of a shocker. I sometimes look back and think to myself why I didn't have a group of friends like the Scooby gang. It's still a brilliant show. But it does kinda make me feel sad and make me think where did my youth go.
I was so glad that I went to a Buffy convention in June 2016. I'd love to go to another one in the future.

I know what you mean and it is even worse when you see some of the wrestlers who were really popular when you were a teenager return and see how old they are. Sting and Goldberg in WWE are two examples.

Yeah. But nothing beats watching Stone Cold Steve Austin having to use reading glasses. lol

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
OMG. I haven't seen that but that sounds REALLY bad. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall look like grandpas now and have you seen Lex Luger recently? He has lost most of his muscles and doesn't even look like a wrestler anymore and I saw him on a Sting DVD and was trying to work out who he was and then it came up with Lex Luger.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
Well, I'm not as old as most of the vampires
Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I was just a week and a half away from turning 30 when the show premiered. I was 33 when I first watched it when FX started airing it in 2000.
Coming up on 50 in a couple of months and Buffy is still my favorite show.
20th anniversary of the premiere of the show coming up in just a month and a half, March 10th.
I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway. Whatever it is, I'm against it.

Re: Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I was in jr high when movie came out and I'm in my 30's now.
Who else on here is older than the characters now?
I watched this show when it aired (the last few seasons anyway) when I was about 10 years old I think, and re-watched it countless times as I went into my teens.
Now, I'm 23, and it's still my favourite show EVER.
But sometimes it's so surreal watching an episode and realising I'm older than the characters. I first noticed in a Season 4 episode when Buffy turns 19. I watched it and was like "Whaaaat?!". I guess this happens with most things you watched young, but then re-watch when you've grown up.
I think the show is so well done though that it doesn't matter. Firstly, most of the characters have to deal with major issues and so are pretty mature for their age. So it's not like watching a typical high school or college show.
ANd secondly, it captures high school and college so well that I can still relate to it cos I remember what it was like myself.
