From Dusk Till Dawn : Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

And I went in knowing it wasa vampire movie, but I found the first part of the film far more interestin. It was a s if the first part was directed by Tarantino, and the second part was Rodrequez. Because the set up was interesting and intense, the vampire half was over-the-top and goofy.
Plus the vampires came out nowhere, just like "oh yeah and btw, vampires!". Thats fine if that was the intent was to just make it so jaring that you forgot how cheesy it got compared to the first half.
Overall, a fun movie

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

I think a lot of viewers had the same opinion. The first half is much better than the second half. Oh well, still pretty fun overall.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

I think that was kind of Rodriguez's and Tarantino's goal. The first hour or so is a pretty suspenseful story about two brothers on the lam and then, quicker that flipping a light switch, it becomes a vampire movie. It's really jarring when you watch it for the first time, but so much fun! I love this movie.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

For many who didn't know about the vampires that is the best part.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

Agreed.

🐺 Boycott movies that involve real animal violence (& their directors) 🐾

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

If it wasn't for the vampire crap it would have been much better. I've watched the first part a few times, but barely made it through the later part once.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

Yea, funny. When I first saw the movie, I thought the sudden vampire twist was the GREATEST thing ever!! I would've rated the movie ten stars back then. I re-watched the movie a couples weeks ago, but it was different... just weird. I started off as a stylized crime drama, then randomly became a subpar B-movie.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

First I saw this film in 1996 I thought it was cool because of the vampires and the action. But the more I rewatched it on tv or with friends the more I began to hate this film. Honestly, it is a piece of garbage just like most of other Tarantino movies. It is pretentious and sadistic. I felt extremely horrible seeing how an innocent family was taken by the kidnappers. And what I hate about Tarantino is how he always tries to portray the horrible people in his films as either sympathetic or in some way cool. I felt very angry when the asian kid died.

At least in Inglorious basterds the people who kill or die are all guilty of something, as was the case in Django. But Dusk Til Dawn is just disgusting. It is down there in the garbage bin of film history as irredeemably morally offensive, together with Rob Zombie's devil's rejects, and Eli Roth's hostel films.

It's sad though because I like all the actors in the film, except Tarantino himself.

Ya know what I was watching this last night and thinking the same thing. In Pulp Fiction we see gangsters killing rapists, other gangsters or 'connected' people. Reservoir Dogs, they get their comeuppance. Jackie Brown good guys live, bad die.

I think the sudden twist and what happens was supposed to make us sympathize with Seth at least a bit. Before they even meet the family they kill like 13 innocent people.

The obvious response to this would be something about how horror films glorify killers and this turns into a B-one. It's the seriousness leading up to it that kinda make it feel tasteless. But I still like it in light of all this.

I'd love to see you in the moonlight with your head thrown back and your body on fire.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

This film wasn't directed by Tarantino.

I bet you're wondering what a place like this is doing in a girl like me-The Mummy

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

absolutly :) the first half really got me if it continued it could be a top movie :P i cant see why they ruined it that hard x9

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

I knew that it was to become a vampire movie when I first saw it, but it didn't stop me from enjoying it. However, nowadays I pretty much only watch it up until they transform and it all goes to *beep*

Don't put the devil in the picture, cause' the religious groups won't wanna see it.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

The second half is fun, but throwaway and kind of cheesy. They could have done something more clever with the whole vampire business.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

What's with all the comments about how great the beginning is? The beginning sucks because they went too over the top with making the brothers such horrible unlikable disgusting monsters which makes the rest worst because we are supposed to root for clooney rather than hoping one of the family members he abducted kills him when he's not paying attention

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

It was like seeing two movies for the price of one.

Re: Great film… up until the vampires randomly showed up.

Yep. It's like Full Metal Jacket. The first part's great, the second part sucks
