Jonathan Brandis : Suicide? I think Homicide….

Suicide? I think Homicide….

His actions do not reflect someone suicidal.
He went out to eat that day, was in good spirits, His friends and he came back to his
apartment, They all went into his apartment then without them seeing, he got a rope, left the apartment and hung himself in the hallway? First taking off his shirt and shoes. Just doesn't add up. No one saw him get a rope and leave? I think one of two things happened. First, there was a fight, he may have fell and broke his neck and while accidental, his friends got scared and covered it up. Guys take off their shirt and shoes when fighting sometimes. Second, there was an argument, someone pushed him and he fell and broke his neck and they covered it up. Either way, I don't believe Brandis killed himself. Just doesn't add up.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

I agree. Things have never added up properly as to the story of his death. I've been wondering and researching for heats trying to figure out what really happened . There is more evidence for his death to have been cause by homicide than by suicide from the things I've learned over the past 12 years.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

The lack of a note leaves all possibilities open and will continue to foster suppositionsbut his actions and words during the previous months, often cryptic and secretive and selectively done to spread the hints around without giving too much to any one person, when you sew them all together in retrospect, point to a suicide. The date, strange as it is, coincides with a Back to the Future date, suggesting in a morbid, very "Jonathanlike" way to those who knew his obsessive love for the films, that it was no accident.
JB didn't break his neck - he strangled and destroyed his brain from lack of oxygen (anoxic encephalopathy), which led to the rumors of autoerotic asphyxiation - negated by evidence discovered during the autopsy. Those on the scene (the EMT's and his landlord) didn't keep the length of rope he used (likely hidden near the balustrade where he did the deed) and the autopsy report had to extrapolate from the damage and residue that it was nylon.
It was no accident or homicide.

Never even thought of auto erotic possibilities.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

If he was out with other people that night (dinner or bday party). Why don't they put to rest some of the rumors/mystery behind what exactly happened that night or at least the parts they saw. It just seem like a lot of details don't make a lot of sense. A lot is left up to speculation and rumors.

It won't explain what was going on in JB head and no one will ever really know that.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

They will have told the police all that they knew. Why would they tell everyone else? It's no-one elses business
I was gonna let you *beep* me, but I got my rag, and I know how you hate a mess

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

I'm pretty sure it is the fans' business.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

Um no. You are a FAN not a FRIEND. They do not know you nor owe you a damn thing. Yeah, make them relive their friend's death because YOU said so. *beep* off.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

mcmgm - I think that comment about fans was made sarcastically.
Sarcasm doesn't come off very well in print.
It is absolutely NO ONE'S business beyond those involved, and I believe that's what the poster meant.
The survivors already relive this enough without anyone dredging it upbut I doubt very much many ever look at this board.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

Actually, such 'sudden' suicides without any sign or hint when someone seemed happy and up beat happens a lot. 'Doesn't add up' is not something uncommon.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

This is true. It is not uncommon for a depressed person to pretend everything is fine. Especially the day of their suicide or suicide attempt.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

Yeah if they make up their minds to do so a lot of the time you're kinda riding high that day, probably because you feel in control.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

I immediately think of Adrienne Shelley when I think of suspicious hangings. (She is best known for her role in the movie "Waitress," where she was the quirky best friend, the one with the glasses.) She too was found hanging. The police ruled her death a suicide, and her husband put his foot down and demanded an investigation. He said she was not suicidal.

When the police investigated the crime scene, they found a footprint not previously found. It led them to a construction worker who was in the building. He confessed that he walked into her apartment after seeing her days before. He assaulted her and killed her, and he strung her up to make her death look like suicide.

The gene pool could use a little chlorine

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

Yes Adrienne Shelley murdered by an illegal alien. But we are not allowed to talk about that!

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

Because US Citizens never commit murder.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

I kniw this is an older post but this statement is very true. I was the last person to see my best friend before he hanged himself. I had brought him dinner and he had asked if I could give him a ride a few days later. Shortly after I left he swallowed a bunch of pills with beer and hanged himself in the closet. I knew he had been having issues but he had said he was feeling really good and doing tons better, obviously he wasn't. If someone really wants to die theywill do it with no warning to those that care about and love them.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

You're right.
Very often the potential suicide seems happier and calmer (even giddy and playful) in their last days - because they've figured out what to do to end their problems.
It, of course, doesn't make sense to people around them who want to LIVE.
JB visited his parents the weekend before his suicide and, though they sensed something was bothering him, they had no idea what he'd planned. Likewise, I'm sure, the friends who were with him that night.
There are many who insist that they 'knew', but the hints he was dropping were scattered and really only apparent after the fact.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

Homicide or Suicide, Jonathan Brandis is still dead. Which is the sad part.

I wish he wasn't though. Him coming back to life (for real.. not like 2pac or Elvis) would be cool. Or if he started acting again and revealed that his "suicide" was a prank and he says, "gotcha!" and started acting again and revealed he was never dead to begin with would be cool. Sadly, none of us will see him again until we reach the after life.

okay

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

He overthink too much. He got stressed and depressed. It was tragic and still can not believe it.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

I don't know anyone who takes their shoes off to fight

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

I don't know anyone who takes their shoes off to fight

me neither. But I never heard of anyone who took off shirt and shoes to do suicide. Wonder why he didn't leave a note. Or maybe he did and the family didn't want to make it public?

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

My guess is he took his shoes off because he went into his apartment, as many people do. They may have all had their shoes off. As for shirt? Guys walk around their houses without shirts all the time, it in no way suggests a fight. And you'd be surprised how often there is no note at a suicide scene.

Re: Suicide? I think Homicide….

The coroner's report has details about his clothing. There was a shirt, though it may have been slipped on post-accident.

Some of the details that made the identification genuine were those descriptions.
