Survivor : Cops…why the hate?

So what if Brett is a police officer? Why do the millennials hate that?

Cops are trained in psychological techniques. They can read people's behaviour and influence people easier than most. Very threatening in a game like survivor.

I guess you missed the part where he said he ran a funeral home. I would imagine they are more upset about the lie.

I never quite understood it when Tony brought it up in his season. I don't know if that was the original mention of cops not doing well on Survivor, or if something else spawned the idea, but I don't see it. People are generally up front about being lawyers and therapists, and I'd trust them way less than a cop in the game of Survivor, were I inclined to use a person's profession for such an evaluation.

I think it has to deal with perception in general of cops and the skillsets that they have and also (for anybody familiar with the world of reality tv) due to them winning past shows like Survivor and Big Brother

Cops that have played the game that I can think of haven't done awful, and I don't think they lost because they were a cop.

Not just Milennials, some hate cops because they have had unpleasant dealings with them!

I don't mind cops, never had any problems, but it is true, you can spot a cop in situations, by their demeanor.

Brain dead people pigeonhole certain people and can't imagine them being nothing but stereotypes in their profession. Also they suspect he's a cop and lied about his profession.

The "brain dead" one is Brett who thought his job was so spectacular it would cost him the game. Egomaniac.

Do teachers on Survivor lie and say they are sewage workers, afraid of appearing "smart"?

Do insurance workers worry that they will be seen as experts in probability and odds-making?

The only people who need have any fear of their occupation interfering with their game play are the really, really wealthy. We have seen that happen.

I don't think there have been very many police on Survivor and I don't ever remember any other player badmouthing them or their occupation.

As you note, it is being a liar that makes people mistrust you, and Brett is a liar. The "cop" part is irrelevant.

IIRC, Tony also lied about being a policeman and the winner of BigBrother, Derrick, did also.

So perhaps Brett was trying to follow in their footsteps. But I find it safe to say that Brett is not anywhere near the players that Tony and Derrick were.

That's why cops haven't done well out of all the cops that were in the game, only one won. Tony won because he was better at keeping his mouth shut and playing it cool. My point is accurate.

Brett should never work underover. He'll get killed.

If I found out someone in my close alliance was a cop, I would like that as I would find them smart and trustworthy someone I would want on my side!

If I found out someone who is NOT in my alliance was a cop, I would find it very threatening for the exact same reasons!

I don't think it's a "hate cop" thing. I just think in general, the cops cast on these shows have a potential to do very well!

Maybe because he is lying about who he is, so therefore he is dishonest. And cops do lie as part of their job, and are legally allowed to. They can lie about what evidence they have against you, they can lie about what deals they can make you, they can lie to you about who will and won't know about your conversation. If you doubt me, look it up.

Maybe because a majority of the police that have been on the show lie about being a police officer. Then when they are found out, everyone doesn't think they can be trusted for lying, so they get booted.

Brett's statement of that cops don't do well on Survivor historicallywell I would say that NO profession, historically, does well on survivor since only 1 in 20 wins. lol


I hate IMDB's Signature policy

Lying about being a cop was stupid. Made no sense. First of all he is a terrible liar, I mean I didn't buy he was a mortician for 2 seconds. Plus Morticians need tons of science. When I was pre-med in my science classes was this one woman who wanted to be a mortician and I was surprised at how much science you need for it and he doesn't seem science minded at all.

Millennials probably don't like authority figures in ANY form.
