Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
Couldn't agree with you more - he's like fine wine, better with age!!!
Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
Mmmmmhmmmm
Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
I could die watching how he (ok, his character - 'erotic transference':) reacts to women telling hmmmthings on the show He always stays calm, but, strangely enough, that's very sexy. It's weird, I can easier be turned on by words and reactions to them (which I, again, can only imagine) than 'real action' (I speak about TV, to be sure)
Anyone else?
Anyone else?

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
You mean: how dares he be old and unhappy and wrinkly?? OMG, he may even not be immortal after all??! For me, it is the most beautiful part about him, being real.
Someone who is merely beautiful, you forget him the very moment he is not any more. Not THIS man:)

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
Hee hee, I came to this board especially to brag about how sexy he is. He's gorgeous!!! And his accent is devine
I was watching Vanity Fair last night and when he and Witherspoon are in the room and he leans forward to kiss her neck my mind was screaming: OMG! HOT! HOT! HOT!
Curse you Aqua Scum!

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
HoneyWe love him so much that it gets embarrasing when revealed in public. That's why we can even pretend we believe he is not that HOT anymore (which he is even on the South Pole:)

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
I've seen him in person, without make-upnine months agohe's really gorgeous and really delicious, too. Maybe you caught him on a day when he was exhaustedwe all have thembut I s2000aw him in the light, up close, the week after the Emmys 2009he was beautiful.
He was very sweet, polite, charming, with a great sense of humor. Soft-spoken and nice, he's quite warm and quite affectionate. He lets you stand near him and is willing to take a photo and put his arm around your waist and pose with you. He never moves awayhe lets you disengage from him. He is a spectacular man from the inside out. However, he was gorgeous, too.
I think you might have seen him on a tough day, but trust me, at age 60, this man is still sexy, delicious, and quite doable.

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
Meet him in person just one time and I guarantee you that his sweetness and charm and charisma and lovely smile will captivate you. He's highly intelligent, extremely articulate, quite soft-spoken and very kind. Some folks are more tasty in 3-Dsuch is the case with Gabriel.
A lovely, lovely man, indeed, and trust me, pale, medium-height, non-athletic, rhythmically-challenged Irish men have never been my flavor. Something about Gabriel Byrne's soulfulness draws you in such that you'd kiss every crinkle and undereye bag and dark circle on him. I dare you to resistdouble dare you.

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
missfern.where have you been??????????????? It's lovely to see your new posts.
And please do tell how you met G.B. I'd most likely swallow my tongue if I ever had that pleasurenot kidding either. It's insane, I know, but I'd just trip all the h ell over myself. I'm an out-going, up beat gal who'd just make a fool of herself.
Sad, I know. What's sadder is I'd never get the opportunity!
Did you catcb68h his 1-17-10 interview with G. Byrne? If not, do yourself a favor and do so. Seriously.
Keep on postin' missfern, and welcome back!

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
Yeah wait till u see him naked
Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
me too I've been crushing on him since high school. he's absolutely yummy.
I will always regret that I couldn't go as planned to NYC to see him in A Moon for the Misbegotten way back in 2000. I imagine he must have been delightful. It's one of my favorite plays, alas, I had to "settle" for Kevin Spacey in London, but just as well, since he was brilliant.
My Mom loves him too, we have an actor in my country (Hungary) who sort of looks like him, like a not so good version of him (my Mom always says he's the GB for Eastern Europe, lol), I wonder if you think so too. His name is Tams (Thomas) Dunai:

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
Thanks, Ladieswhere have I been? Well, I don't come on here as often anymore, but your friendly encouragements might just change that. I used to hang out a bit more on the HBO website to discuss his show, In Treatment, then HBO redesigned their website and jacked it updestroyed the whole online communityit's a morgue over there. RIP HBO message board. I digress.
Anyway, I met him at the LA Irish Film Festival September 2009. His documentary, STORIES FROM HOME, was being screened, and I went to check it out. I didn't see him when he first entered the theater because I was up front in the third row. But the person next to me said, "Oh, there he is" and I turned around and saw him. He was standing in the back of the theater, talking to people. HBO had a reserved section in the back, so he was chatting with various folks who stopped to extend greetings. He listened quite intently to everyone who spoke to him. I just continued watching him as he shook hands with folks, smiled at folks, hugged folksjust being his normal self instead of a character in a film.
He's shorter and thinner than you think he'll be. Onscreen they pair him with very petite leading ladies, so the relative height difference would make you think he's about six feet tall. On the contrary, he's medium heightabout 5'8" and weighs maybe a buck-fifty, a buck-sixty tops. I got out of my seat and walked up the theater aisle to get a closer lookhe's as beautiful as you hope he'll besparkling sapphire blue eyes, thick lustrous tousled hair, adorable crinkles around his eyes, dimples, prominent nose, expressive mouthit all works together like a Picasso paintingthe whole is greater than the sum of its parts, but he's gorgeous.
When the movie ended, he was introduced and came to the front of the theater for a Q&A session. He moves very wellhe just bounded up one step to the platform where the chairs were set up for him and the moderator. He took a seat, crossed his legs, picked up the mic, and waited for the first question. I was literally three steps away from him. He seemed quite nervous, but I'm sure you've read articles where he has said he's shythat definitely came throughbut he listened very carefully to every question and gave well-thought-out answers. He is quite articulate and eloquent, but sprinkles a bit of humor into his answers. He's also quite charmingyou like him immediatelya lot. He's soft-spokenvery soothingvery sweet tones to his voicemuch thicker Irish accent than when he's speaking in movies, even with an 5b4Irish accent. He probably has a "performance Irish accent" and his own thicker natural Irish accent, like folks from the South who smooth out their accents until they get around another Southernerlike what Oprah does sometimes. Anyway, the thick Irish accent is very sexyand combined with the soft-spoken, sweet voice, sounds like, well, pillow talk.
After the Q&A session ended, we applauded and he stepped down off the platform and attempted to get back up the aisle toward the back of the theater, but was bombarded with audience members who surrounded him, stopping him at the third aisle. He reached up and and over people and shook all the outstretched hands, waved back at folks who waved at him, and nodded at people as they called his name. Finally, the film festival folks moved him and the small crowd back up to the front of the theater to allow more room for folks to meet and greet with him. At this point, I make a beeline out of my row and get over to him to take photos of him and maybe, hopefully, get a photo of him with my road dog who is also a huge fan of his and had her son and daughter with her.
He was standing there talking to Michelle Forbes, his co-star in In Treatment. Photographers are flashing bulbs at the two of themhe never breaks his gaze or concentration from herhe is listening to her and is focused only on her. He puts one arm across his waist, rests the other elbow o5b4n that hand and puts a hand on his chin. He does this gesture often when looking at and listening to people. I then tell my homegirl to just go stand next to him even though he's talking to Forbes because I can still snap a photo of her next to him. She does thatI get three photosthen he suddenly turns to her and says, "Hello, how are you tonight?" She almost swallowed her gum and tongue, but asked for his autograph and he said, "Sure, I'd be delighted" which came out "SHOO-WAH, OY'D BAY DUH-LOY-TED"he asked her for a pen then asked who he should make it out to, signed it, gave her back the pen and paper, waited for her to disengage from him, gave her a sweet smile, then turned to someone else.
He did this three or four more timesturning to someone, looking right at them, focusing on what they were saying, waiting until they were through with him, then turning to someone else. I'm taking photos of this the whole time. Then, he looked at ME, and said, "Hello, how are you tonight?" I told him I was great, said something funny, he chuckled, said something funny back to me, I laughed, then I asked him to pose for a photo for me. He did, smiled, I thanked him, then asked him to sign a magazine for me with his face on the cover. He said he'd be delighted then asked me who he should make it out to. I told him my name then said something funny again, he laughed again, then Ib68 stepped next to him to WATCH him sign my namehe stepped toward me, we were hip-to-hip. I'm 5'10" so I towered over him a bit, I noticed. He never moved awayhe was very comfortable being close, so I put my arm around the back of his waist while he signed.
Once he finished, he turned toward me, handed it back, smiled, waited for me to disengage, so I took my arm from around his waist (I was standing to his right side), squeezed his upper arm as I started to step away from him. He held his arm out gently while my hand slid down his arm past his hand and fingersgraceful slim tapered fingers with a honkin' Claddagh ring on the right hand. I thanked him, waved, he waved, and I turned away. He let ME disengage from HIM.
He smelled cleansoapyfaint hint of shampoo and hair productfresh.
He was this way with everybody there that nightwarm, open, sweet, normal, natural, nice, polite. And he's stunningly handsome, aging beautifully for sixty years of ageand I daresay some guys even younger. He's not had any cosmetic surgery work done. He's just a product of some really good DNA.
Later, at the film festival after-party, I noticed all of the Irish guys stepped close when talking with themstraight into my personal space. I later asked one of them, "What's the deal with you Irish guys and no sense of personal space?" He double-blinked quizzically and said that most of them grew up in Ireland in big families in small one bedroom houses, sharing one bathroom, brothers and sisters sleeping in the same room, so they don't really know from personal space. So, I think Gabriel Byrne is also a product of thishe doesn't step away from peoplehe allows them close to him as if it's the most natural thing to him.
OK, that's all I know. I'll try to check back more often and thanks for missing me, y'all. Who knew?

Speaking of "shade," Shade was on last night. Is it Bo Hopkins that G.B. imitates after Bo slapped around Stuart T.? Nasty, irritating voice on Bo. Apres Stuart smack down, Bo leaves, and G.B. imitates his voice, "When I want your opinion, I'll dial your a**hole." DO YOU REMEMBER IT? Slays me every time!!

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
No Dashaw, I've never been on byrneholics.com. I know some folks who used to be on HBO mentioned that they post over there. There was a mass defection from the HBO message board after HBO made the bonehead move of redesigning a great site into a crappy site. I would imagine that an appreciable number of folks landed at byrneholics.com. I think I know who you're referring to, but I can't be sure. Lots of tall women are walking around LA, though.
No need to be green, Dashaw. Gabriel is that way with EVERYBODY. There will be plenty of that sweetness for you, too, if you ge5b4t the opportunity to meet him. It just oozes out of him. I hope you get your opportunity, too. Never say neverI've lived long enough to know that nothing is impossible. If you believe, and stand strong with patience, your day will come. It really will. Take this time to prepare what you would say to himget ready, be ready, stay readyyou never know when your moment will come. I'll be so happy for you, too, because he's worth the wait. He won't disappoint you. He's the most normal and humble and well-adjusted international movie star heartthrob multi-millionaires you'd ever want to meet.
No entourage, no bling, no fanfare, no flourishes, he just blends inas much as is possible for a handsome man with an Irish accent in America who is known the world over to do.
About "SHADE", yes, that's Bo Hopkins Gabe's character is imitating. That's the exact line, too. I DVR'd SHADE and I watch it from time-to-time. There's always some new subtle nuance to Gabriel's performance that I'll notice. That's the mark of a great actor. They do so much and the performance just stands up to the test of time. Treat yourself, if you can, to the DVD of SHADE, then watch it with the director's commentary. Stuart Townsend mentions little things about Gabriel periodically, and like a lot of other men who work with Gabriel, totally has a man-crush on him. You hear the respect and the admiration he has for Gabri5b4el, but you can tell he'd run through fire for Gabriel, too.
Gabriel is GREAT with imitations. You should get a hold of his book "Pictures In My Head" on CD or download from audible.com for about $10 where he reads the book and does all these different accents and voices of the folks he wrote about in his book. The best part is that you hear HIS voice and accent reading the words instead of your own voice and pronounciation in your head. The best treat is to get the book and follow along while listening to the audio version. Priceless.
OK, Dashaw, I hope that helps. Thanks again for being so welcoming. I hope I delivered for you. Talk soon.

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
Oh missfern dear, I took your advice to snag an audible.com order. Just listening to the sample snippet, I now have pictures in MY head. Can't you just see him throwing plum pits at Uncle Joe (hawho's singin' the bluesI love when G.B. sings.Mad Dog Time included). I'm unclear tho' on the baby bruthar dealdid he inadvertently give him turpentine? Looking forward to marinating in this audio leading to visual.four hours and 39 minutes. Whoopee!
Attended a going away party for my friend's athletic trainer last night.Chicago's Hizzoner was there. Talk about blending in.just one of the guys. He "knows" G.B., but to what extent, I don't know. But I do know he spoke very highly of him.
*****sigh*****
Stigmata was on the other night, and Natalie Imbruglia's "Identify" has set up shop in my noggin: "Your eyes, they send me.." Hauntingly beautiful song!!!
OH, if I ever am graced to meet him, that's exactly what I'll say, no SING, to him. Am practicing. (Like I'd have the guts). Great idea tho'!!!
If you dig "hauntingly beautiful songs," give a listen to "Pretty Ballerina" by The Left Banke circa 1967. Alice Cooper does a great cover too! Youtube awaits!
Enough procrastination here.gorgeous day, but I'm stuck inside packing for a move Tuesday. UGH!
Love ya missfern!

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
Hey Dashaw!! I'm so glad you tapped into Gabriel's book on audioI thought you might enjoy it since you seem to be one of Gabe's BEST fans. Anyone who can love GB's singing in Mad Dog Time is a true fanhahahhahahahhaaha!
Yes, Gabriel mistakenly poisoned his brother. He has mentioned that they're close now.
Everybody I've ever met who is an Irish actor or artist says that they know Gabriel and that "he's a great bloke!" He's everybody's friend back in Ireland, I guess. They should have a show"Everybody Loves Gabriel".
Oh yeah, you're doing the right thing to practice what to say to Gabe. He's very nice and he would never make you feel nervous around him. He's laid b2000ack and soft-spoken and down-to-earth. He's fascinated by what YOU have to say to him, so do keep practicing. He'll respond and give you what you ask fora photo, an autograph, a hughe's really sweet. No worriesyou just get ready.
OK, I'm gonna check out "Pretty Ballerina" just cuz you said so. Thanks for the heads up, Dashaw.
Best wishes for a smooth move on TuesdayI hope this move is a good thing for you. Chi-Town gets windy, I hear. The key to packing is to pack & label each box according to room and write it on all four sides and on top of the box. Gabriel just moved into a new place in New York, too. I think he moved into his new apartment about two weeks agoyou'll be happy to know that perhaps the both of you are knee-deep in boxes right now. Take comfort in that, Deb.
Luv ya back!

I can't believe for a second that he's 60. Er is it just me that's getting older.

Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
I had a huge crush on him when I was in high school, too!! All the other girls will falling over that "newcomer" Brad Pitt, but they could have him. I'd take, and still would, actually, Gabriel Byrne any day!
Re: Anyone else find him delicious?
HEAR HEAR! The thing is, that he's not cute, hot or anything like that. He is handsome. In a real way. You can imagine him walking next to you down a street like a normal person. Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Matt Damon? Not so much. He looks real. yes, Iknow, Im probably not making sense..

I met him in person after seeing "CAMELOT" at Lincoln Square. He looks pretty old and he's rather short. But he was very charming and gracious and has amazing eyes.
