The Gold Rush : How does Big Jim's Gold Mine move to the cliff?

How does Big Jim's Gold Mine move to the cliff?

I never can figure this out.

Black Larson falls off the cliff when the cliff has an avalance.
The gold Black Larson is carrying with him on the sled falls off the cliff with him.

The Snowstorm blows the cabin to the cliff.
When Big Jim gets out of the Cabin he finds the stake to his claim.
So what happened?
Did the gold mine move to the cliff? Or did the gold Black Larson took somehow stay on top of the cliff?

Re: How does Big Jim's Gold Mine move to the cliff?

Black Larson never goes near the cliff we see at the end of the movie. It is a different one.

Big Jim and The Tramp's cabin is blows to the cliff were Big Jim has his clam.

Does this help at all?

How did they create such a realistic looking avalanche scene where Black Larson meets his end? It looked pretty good to me even by todays standards.
