Remake
Maybe not.
Do anybody have the ability to come up with an ORIGINAL idea today?
I guess not.

Uhhhthe remake was made in 1955"I Died A Thousand Times". Jack Palance is good, but Shelley Winters couldn't hold a candle to Ida Lupino.

Re: Remake
Raoul Walsh himself revisited "High Sierra" in 1949 with "Colorado Territory" starring Joel McCrea and Virginia Mayo. Well worth watching as the change in time and setting helps keep the viewer from comparing it too closely with "High Sierra".

Re: Remake
I don't usually think of remakes when watching a movie, but for this one I did. This doesn't mean I didn't like itI added it to my favorites. For Bogie I thought Billy Bob Thornton. For Ida Lapino's role I thought long and hard and came up with Jennifer Love Hewitt. Please don't laugh or criticize, I know its an unusual choice.
Re: Remake
of course, deniro and scorsese, what a shock. i say depp as earle, and zeta-jones as marie.

Re: Remake
You can't remake Bogie! It's impossible!
But I would make it a younger Bogie, like Roy Earle in early years, kind of like Tom Powers. Young, but not like a prequel.

Re: Remake
Deniro is now 72, Russo is 63, Billy Bob Thornton is 60. All of these people are too old for these parts. Bogart was 42 when he essayed Roy Earle. Joel McCrea was 43 when he played Wes McQueen. Volodymyr Palahniuk (Walter Jack Palance) was 36. Get the idea?
