Most Brits don't know England's county names

Re: Most Brits don't know England's county names

I'm from Scotland, and came up 5 short (so that's 43 named). I didn't know Bristol was a county, and I overlooked City of London (I assumed that would also come under Greater London). I've heard of the rest but couldn't think of them.

It could be a balloon. It could be Franky. It could be very fresh and clean. It could be those ways.

34. And I'm Scottish.

If you're happy and you know it, go sit in the corner and think about your life.

Re: Most Brits don't know England's county names

Re: Most Brits don't know England's county names

as an American who spends a good deal of time in the UK, it's sad that I seem to know more about British history than most Brits. They're literally sitting on top of centuries of history, and most of them don't give a sh-t.

Re: Most Brits don't know England's county names

Name all the counties in your state?

As someone said above why should they? Is it really all that important to know the counties in England?

I am never wrong, I may not awlays be correct but I am never wrong. PFM

Re: Most Brits don't know England's county names

I was 12 short, including Greater Manchester and Greater London! In my defence they do keep changing the names and I spent ages trying to remember Tyne and Wear. At least I go the county that I live in Though I bet no one else here did.

This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

Re: Most Brits don't know England's county names

I forget which county is yours. I got Cornwall, Devon and Bristol. But I missed Glos, Wiltshire and Somerset.

Re: Most Brits don't know England's county names

Ok smarty pants you got my county - Bristol. It's changed several times in recent years, it was part of Somerset, then Avon (which doesn't exist anymore) and now it's Bristol.

Re: Most Brits don't know England's county names

I thought you might be living in one of the surrounding counties, all of which I missed. Towards the end I was making wild guesses by naming cities and names with the suffix "shire", rivers, and even WWII RN ships and army unit names. And now I understand why it wouldn't accept my Avon guess.

That's a cool promotional video. Bristol looks like a lovely place. At first I thought it was a miniature city model like Madurodam. It must be some special effect.
