Geez, how did those boys hit such high notes? My ears were bleeding during some of the scenes!

Boy trebles often can hit amazingly high notes and often effortlessly, especially if well trained.

See if you can find a YouTube performance of Benjamin Britten's "Balulalow," and you'll hear the soloist hit a B-flat two octaves above middle C.
