Re: Today's focus– THEO CARVER
Probably Abe will forgive her. At least the writers are only making Valerie secretive, not evil. She's not trying to harm Theo. She's just lying to Abe about things to protect her son (from Julie).
Today's focus– THEO CARVER
We recently received news Days of Our Lives is getting a new headwriter, effectively immediately. Apparently Ron Carlivatis material wont begin airing until early August, which means characters and stories developed by the programs current lead scribe Dena Higley will continue to play out for another six months. This includes Theo Carver, whose personality traits are said to have been loosely based on Denas son.
During one of Denas early stints as headwriter, she introduced the fact Theo was autistic (as her own son is in real life). A big deal was made of it, but with each interim writing regime, a lot of it was lost basically it was either underplayed or not played at all, when Dena was on sabbatical. Sometimes Theo just wasnt even shown at all. Now that Dena is leaving again, I wonder what Ron will do with the character and his specific story.
This time around Dena has put Theo into a triangle with Hopes daughter Ciara and Hopes granddaughter Claire. In this latest episode, Theos been dating Claire who is becoming increasingly manipulative, and his friendship with Ciara remains strong with the potential for greater romantic feelings with her. Its typical sudsy stuff, thrown on to the shows college-aged characters.
But what I see here is that Theo is not exactly mature. Not sure if its because Dena sees him as a slightly immature lad who still needs guidance and protection from his father Abe (James Reynolds). Or if its because hes a bit emotionally handicapped, related to the autism. I cant tell if theyre implying hes mildly autistic for life, or if it was a childhood affliction hes growing out of now. Whatever the case, there is a uniqueness with Theo that I sincerely hope Ron doesnt change or stop depicting. Theo and his relationship to Abe as well as his connection to the DiMeras through his deceased mother Lexie will always be important to this show.
