Re: The worst movie in months
You are a heartless animal.
The movie is about a secret love that they could both be killed for if anyone ever found out about it. Lior dies and Yossi finally realizes what he lost, the "Song Scene" as you put it, ICE QUEEN, is the song that was Lior's favorite. The song he sang to Yossi twice while we saw them. May you go to Antarctica and end global warming you ICE QUEEN!

You are wrong.
"The movie is about a secret love that they could both be killed for if anyone ever found out about it."
digitaltim007, your understanding of being gay and being out in the Israeli Army and, perhaps, in Israel is incorrect.
The Israeli Army is one of the few armies in the world to openly accept homosexuality (both male and female).
Of course, just like many organizations and institutions around the world, there is also open homophobia and prejudice in Israel and its army.
But to say that "they could both be killed" implies that the Israeli Army puts to death anyone they catch being homosexual!!
This is simply not true.
Israel's policies on fully accepting the LGBT community into its defense force contrasts the "don't ask, don't tell" policy of the United States.
In addition, there are countries in the world where, if you are "caught as a homosexual", then you ARE put to death - whether you are in the army or not (see BBC link below).
But Israel is certainly not one of these countries.
Israel has a thriving LGBT scene - there are some great gay bars and clubs in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Israel has a number of openly gay politicians and civil servants (see BBC link below).
Israel has been the host of many LGBT Pride Parades in the last few years - in fact, World Pride 2006 (in August) is scheduled to take place in Jerusalem.
It is well-documented that Palestinian gay men "flee" to Israel to escape persecution (see BBC link below).
Israel recognizes same-sex marriages performed overseas.
Israel is a country that chose Dana International, an open transsexual, as its representative in the Eurovision Song Contest (1998)!!
Of course, Israel has many other problems it needs to address, both internally and in relation to the Arab population of the area.
But in terms of LGBT rights, Israel is ahead of the times.
Here are some interesting BBC articles about the LGBT Community in the Middle East
1. "Iran 'Must Stop Youth Executions'"

2. "Palestinian Gays Flee to Israel":

3. "Israel's First Gay MP Enters Parliament"

Take care.

For more info on Israeli LGBT civil-rights, I would advise looking here.

Re: The worst movie in months
fabiospalding, I assume you are straight. Don't tell me if my guess is right. Hoho
As a gay guy myself, I do highly recommend this movie to people that I respect and like. However, there is always some among of people that can not see the beauty that lies within.
Maybe you are straight, if you are, I don't expect you to understand any gay society's difficulty to be accepted and danger to be found out. If you are straight and as how you think about this movie, too bad, you are just not the one of the expected audiences.
Or maybe you are gay/bisexual/still in a closet/whatever, I would have thought that this movie would have touched your heart. If you are telling me that you are one of us, you are either lying or you are trying to be "straight". Either way you are again just not the one of the expected audiences.
There is no need to argue or be angry, but I hope sometime when you fully grow up, you know what you have been misjudging.

Re: The worst movie in months
Compared to almost any gay themed film out there, this one is a masterpiece. What, not enough ass shots for ya??
Re: The worst movie in months SPOILER LOL
Sheesh, guys- calm down.
It's a good movie. Far from amazing, but not bad either.
Gets extra points for making me cry at the end, looses them because I knew from the scene were Jagger's playing the guitar that he was going to die. Overall though, I really liked it. I'm just so sick of people either completely dissing something because they're ignorant or acting like 12 year olds. ("ICE QUEEN!!!11!!!!!1!!eleven")
tl;dr: You don't have to like it. You don't have to defend it. Just appreciate it, or don't watch it at all.

Re: The worst movie in months
I disliked this movie quite a bit as well. It astonishes me that it has such support really; a lot of critics praised this film for being terse, but really it's horrendously underdeveloped.
The title characters have their screen time trumped almost entirely by supporting characters (whom I couldn't care less about) and the scenes that Yossi and Jagger DO have are rather cliche. And I don't know about the rest of you, but the ending seemed inevitable to me.
I'm gay, I have a beating heart, but this just isn't a very good movie.

Re: The worst movie in months
I agree. It was okay but I wouldn;t recommend it. Since it was a short there is only so much development you can achieve.
Re: The worst movie in months
7.5 rating for this worse cliche ridden trite of a movie. its an insult to the army and army men, regardless of which country they belong to, most of all Israel.
Its like a cheap soap opera in the army barracks when the soldiers are supposed to be preparing for the ambush. The top in command is screwing a blonde female soldier like its a normal day in the life of the army man - he comes out of his room with his fly still open - come ON!
While patrolling what i think is a border the chief is busy humping his second in line..i mean if we wanted a gay *beep* why make them wear army clothes, why not construction workers, or janitors or any other profession, with no insult to any. the only reason they made them army men so that killing one of the love birds would be easier, but hey, they could make a log fall on his head, it would be as tragic.
its comical how these men even while in active ambush conditions are flirting with each other, such cinemas are worse to what gays are usually made out to be stereotypical *beep* me crazy idiots who have no idea of life besides their dicks.
Please see this movie, recommended for all those who like their heads buried in the sand. i won't even give it 0.75
