Little House on the Prairie : We have Laran-gitis.

We have Laran-gitis.

That's gotta be one of the most hilarious moments on this show. Mary and Laura want to avoid church to avoid facing the problem of not having the Reverend's gift that they were entrusted to buy with the Sunday School Fund. They play sick Sunday morning and even tell pa what they had - an illness that they didn't know wouldn't enable them to talk, but they talked. They didn't even pronounce it right too. It was a nice effort, but Charles was way too smart to fall for that.

Re: We have Laran-gitis.

That part was a little out of character for Mary. It's hard to believe that she didn't know what laryngitis was. She was smart and was always reading. When I was her age, I knew what it was. Sure, I came up in a different time when there was more access to information, etc., but I still think it's a stretch that Mary wouldn't have known and couldn't have thought of a better illness.

I am surprised Charles didn't fall for it. He wasn't very bright at all. Lol

Re: We have Laran-gitis.

I will say that's one of my favorite episodes just for how Reverend Alden handled the whole situation at the end. Great way to take a not-good situation and find the good in it.
