Batman: Arkham City : Why is everybody already hating on Arkham Origins?

Just because the game is not being developed by Rocksteady, it's not being written by Paul Dini and it won't feature Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill, people seem to have already decided to dislike this game. Even on the E3 gameplay trailer, people are complaining that it looks like Arkham City.

Isn't anybody looking forward to Arkham Origins? You get to explore Gotham, in addition to an earlier, nicer version of the Arkham City portion. A fresh cast of villains is presented, it's not just more of Batman vs. The Joker. I think it might be really cool.

I'm looking forward to it. It will be weird not having Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill involved as they were the original voices but I'm not going to let it affect the game

Because it's not made by Rocksteady, and doesn't involve any of the BTAS clan like Dini and Conroy and Hamill.

He simply echoed me. I wanted to know why everybody is hating on this game BESIDES what was previously established.

"Rocksteady not developing has been a huge basis for doubt"

They passed all technical aspects onto WB Montreal, so the look, feel and controls will be similar.

Conroy I can understand, but Hamill already announced he was retiring as Joker after Arkham City. True, they are the best Batman and Joker respectively, and if Joker had a larger part in this game, I'd probably be unhappy that Hamill wasn't coming back too. But Roger Craig Smith sounds like a decent Batman so far.

I wasn't trolling. I was giving you the reasons why it's getting hated. They're the reasons. No others.

Sure it may not be as good as Arkham City, that's a tough act to follow. But from what I've seen, it looks like it might be a decent game in spite of the changes.

I'm not that excited for it, yet I will buy it.

It looks like a lazy attempt to do what Asylum and City did, there seems to be nothing actually NEW about the game, they just seem to have polished things.

As for voice characters and Dini, I think the game will suffer with this. Not from a sales point of view but from the actual fanbases' point of view.

Though I am excited to see some different villains and less emphasis on Joker.

It's more because Rocksteady is making another Arkham game (confirmed by Conroy), and so this one feels like a cheap cash-in.

Anyone who's seen the love and attention this game is getting would know better than to call it that.

Most of the love and attention is going to the story and not improving the gameplay (from what I've seen).

I want to be wrong about this. If I play it and enjoy it, I will admit it.

The gameplay looks great. What's your problem with it?

The gameply looks exactly the same as it was in City. I remember seeing the gameplay for Arkham city for the first time after getting really good with the challenges in Asylum and I was so excited by the multiple counters, the added gadget attacks and the expansive new animations and take-downs. This game has none of that. It is all the same animations plus some noob freindly shock glove feature.

Arkham City is one of my favorite games ever, but I expect a sequel to add a little more than I've seen in the trailers so far. The leap between the combat in AA and AC seems astronomical in comparison to this very safe approach we seem to be getting in Origins.

There's several new gadgets they revealed in the gameplay, including a new take down method using the grappling lines.

They're not trying to reinvent the wheel by totally changing the gameplay of AC. They're just adding to it. AA and AC's gameplay are really different. AA's was very good but very basic.

Yeah I know there are a few new gadgets and tricks, but the normal combat still looks almost identical to AC's. I'm really hoping the ninja/boss enemies and assassin's like Deathstroke add a lot to the game because that is where there seems to be the most innovation.

That said more of the same is welcome, as AC was phenomenal, but I hope we do get some progression to the series.

I think we will. Just going by what I've seen and heard. Unless it's all smoke and mirrors.

personally the only thing i don't like is the different voice, the game play for both arkham games are great. and if it's like the last game it doesn't bother me at all i could care less. both games had great game play. and this will prolly will too. all i really care about is if it has is a good story

and that's about it. actually having a game not be about the joker will be nice when the next rocksteady game comes out. i wonder who will be the main villian in that one? also do ya have a link to the video for the new game? i'd like to see a trailer for it.

Come on, everybody, this game is going to be BAD ASS!

We'll finally have Deathstroke, Copperhead, Firefly, and Lady Shiva get the Arkham treatment. Not to mention bigger roles from Black Mask, Bane, and Mad Hatter.
Tour Gotham City, from Old Gotham to fancy, newer, bigger Gotham the freakin' Bat Cave!
Bats has to tangle with virtually EVERYBODY in this one, since even the cops are against him.

I'm on board for it. Everything I've seen so far looks top notch.

I hate how the made Batman look. I will be honest I am not a fan of the Christopher Nolan films. Instead of completly coming up with their own look of Batman, they choose to use the mask and gauntlets from the movie. Other than that I am looking forward to playing it.

Making the costume look like Nolan's is one of their best ideas.

It's kind of funny that it did turn out to be Batman vs Joker. But anyway i really did enjoy it. Though it would have been nice to have a few new features. The Fast travel with the batwing was an amazing idea and the foreshadowing is really nice too.
