House : Its impossible to go slow with this show
Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
I'm the opposite. I can't watch s7 *because* of huddy.
To me that was one of the elements unnecessarily inserted in the series that was a definite show killer. She was the most unlikable character in the series and i felt like the only reason House was with her was to punish himself like he was doing at the end of S6 when he picked a fight in a bar and let that guy beat the crap out of him.
Trying to make huddy into some sizzling love story is on the same level as trying to make Taub into a ladies man. Completely unbelievable and totally unnecessary to House's story.
The writers ran out of ideas for compelling medical mysteries so they added a bunch more supporting characters and then tried to write interesting stories for them, and none of them were interesting.
They managed to come up with great stories when there were only 3 team members and Wilson in House's life because the stories revolved around the patient/medical story and we had different characters every week. They should've kept that formula and that cast size. There were too many regular players so House turned into an ensemble drama, but none of the other actors/character were interesting on their own.
In addition, the cuddy actress wasn't that great with dramatic scenes. She always looked exasperated, bitchy, or frustrated. She was good with light comedy but anything dramatic just wasn't believable. Her scenes in that episode when her mother was sick were laughable.
Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
I thought Cuddy worked better when there was some mystery to her. By the time she left there seemed to be nothing left to learn about her.
I actually didn't find her likable or unlike until season five .
The odd part to me was in doing Huddy is they took away what viewers liked about them. The witty banter and the ability to not take much personally.
I can go through seasons 5 through 7 and there are several episodes that I love or like but a lot of some otherwise decent episodes had too much of a depressing feel to them because Huddy had a lot of unnecessary angst to it.
I do love season 8 it returned to the format that worked best for the show.. I wasn't crazy about 20 Vicodin but it wasn't awful. But after that I enjoyed most of the episodes.

Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
Season 5 was the most angsty followed by well season 6.
The House Cuddy banter was there back in season 7 with them as a couple, after they broke up things got ruined again but this time with no hope to be fixed unless Lisa Edelstein would have stayed and they found their middle ground between friends and Co workers and maybe some flirting again.
At the beginning it was settled that ling time ago They had one night stand which left that funny banter and flirting so maybe once they got over the romance they could have gone back to their early days but noo.
Early season 7 was very good, two stories was a very nice episode where he talks with those kids outside the principal office and he connected with them seems like they found House interesting and found those two interesting as well.
I really enjoyed this episode also the one when House meets Cuddy's mom. I guess its one of my favorites from season 7m the third episode was pretty cool as well where House finally gets along with Sam because she helped him how to read Tanner's book with the MRI machine it was pretty cool.
If i was Cuddy i would have been happy that House and Sam finally got along at least if itvwas thanks to a book series both enjoyed.

Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
Huddy were teased from day one and they flirted don and off the entire series. I don't get how people think the relationship is somehow contrived or force. Obviously they've always had some sort of feelings for each other and it finally culminated into them getting together.
It's funny that people claim that the writers ran out of ideas in the instances that they didn't like the stories that were happening. Yes, they did have ideas and were telling the stories they wanted to. You not liking it is your problem alone.

Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
David Shore said on various occasions that he didn't plan to do Huddy as he planned the series and wrote the first episodes. It was LE who lobbied for it so hard that one day she got her wish.
Hameron was planned right from the start. That Hugh Laurie developed paternal feelings for Jennifer Morrison and therefore found it inappropriate to do sexual graphic scenes with her, was the only reason why they terminated the Hameron storyline.
You can read so and find out in various articles/interviews to the series.

Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
I wonder what would have happened if they continued with the original plan and Hugh wouldn't hav edeveloped those feelings for Jennifer Morrison.
Maybe the Banter would have stayed there till the very end and Cuddy would have been another great friend for House and cover him till the end so he would have never been in Jail.
David Shore should have cast then someone slightly older to play Cameron so the original plan would have never changed.
Now that i finished this show for a second time i appreciated much the earlier seasons where House and Cuddy was just harmless flirting with no big feelings between them, just flirting and fighting. Before their romance Cuddy was just another friend for House with a different point of view from Wilson.
I did enjoy seeing them as a couple but their earlier days were pure gold.

Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
I have to apologize to OP. I apparently misread their post with someone elses along the line and thought they were insulting the idea of Huddy and how it ruined the show. Guess you're completely the opposite!
Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
The thing is i have mixed emotions when it comes to Huddy
I loved seeing them together they had some very nice moments as a couple and their early days with their bickering were pure gold but, the way their break up was treated makes me wish they would have never become a couple and keep the relationship the way it was at the beginning.
The chemistry between Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein was great they looked pretty good together. The mutual attraction definitely looked real
Another downside is that sometimes it seems like Cuddy was more in love with an idea of House than the real House the same happened with Cameron. They admired House profesionally very much and when they saw his most romantic side they thought they could change him so a mess was quite anticipated.
Stacy seems like she was the ideal pair for House since like him it was all about being rational and that is what made them understand each other, her personality was the most compatible with House and both were willing to admit when they were wrong.

Re: Its impossible to go slow with this show
I was bored to tears during season 7.
Whenever I rewatch the series I'm going to dread when that season comes up.

The first 14 episodes were pretty good, the bad episodes started since bombshells

What's interesting is that Sam shared characteristics with House just like Amber did. There seems to be a pattern that Wilson likes to date House-like females. What does that say about him?Why not just date House instead of female substitutes?

I completely agree with tornado2449. In season 7 House sold his soul to please his not satisfactory Cuddy mistress.
At the end of season 6 as suddenly Cuddy walked into House's apartment and seduced a mentally unstable House into a love relationship, I was so done with that Huddy-nonsense that I actually considered to stop watching the show. Only my addiction to seeing Hugh Laurie acting on TV made me continue it. At first I really wanted to give Huddy a chance, since I wanted House to have some happiness in his life. But this chance was over as the selfish Cuddy wanted to dictate House, which massage therapist he should use.
In my opinion House mainly was together with Cuddy in order to not to be alone and because he was brainwashed by Nolan that a relationship with her would be the solution to some of his problems. And I consider it as symptom of his mental illness, which caused him a stay at Mayfield, that he thought that he loved her.
The series drastically improved after Bombshells and even more in season 8.

I think Wilson needed a woman like House to push him and get him out of his comfort zone, confident and strong enough to fight Wilson but make him stand up for himself.
Wilson was quite insecure and while he he didn't like House many times admired him for his confidence and being able to take risks and not being to mess things up.
In the Wilson Episode he tells House about giving his friend double quimo and he says its something you'd do, and House replied yes it is but i can handle when things go really bad you can't. Wilson needed a woman with those characteristics.
It seems like the two women he loved the most were House-Like and it's because they pushed him to be better.
Its impossible to go slow with this show
I don't want that relationship to end again, they had their downside but they were fun as a couple. I did enjoy them very much as an item. I was only bothered by Huddy in season 5, 6 and second half of season 7. Huddy as an item were almost as fun as they were from Season 1-4.
And im sad im almost again Close to their end for good and im close to finish this series again time goes so fast watching this series. Its sad to think im close to the end.
