Homeland : OMG what did they do to Homeland?

i feel like im watching Law and Order or a Lifetime movie. Seriously this show has lost its steam

They had advisors who were very adept and maneuvering through potential CIA and intelligence services and developing stories for seasons.

But apparently they didn't bother getting it right this year. Although even if Hillary had won, she wasn't against the intelligence community, and would never have avoided this debacle given the lengths the Obama administration went to in order to get it to this point.

I'm hoping that maybe they're just going to wing it and go with a more fictional take on things (the way the series started) and stop trying to mirror current policies and politics. I'm not sure if they'll ever get the mojo back of the first season, but the last few have been subpar, at best.

I did like the second episode much better than the first and the third is just about to start, so we'll see which way things go.

I suspect there was a screenwriters retreat on mental illness, because The Affair also derailed its strong plot with a mental illness story this season.

I started out being disinterested in watching more of The Affair, having seen the first episode and didn't like it. Didn't resubscribe to Showtime as a result, but was interested enough to keep reading the board. Finally I was convinced by the character development everyone was talking about, and resubscribed to binge-watch and catch up.

I don't think S3 of The Affair has become derailed at all. What it's done is peel back the layers on each character to reveal the underlying reasons why they've done what they've done, and develop each of them so we have a better understand about what was really driving them particularly Noah.

I'm not a fan of what they've done to Quinn at all. Yes, what he's going through is realistic, but it's subtracting from a very weak script. Let's hope he doesn't somehow 'snap out of it' (which IMO would completely jump the shark) and become some sort of super agent again.

There's so much water in the last two episodes that I don't feel full at all and keep waiting for the plot to develop beyond insanity.
