Homeland : this season's political agenda
Re: this season's political agenda
I voted for Hillary but I am not into this plot at all. I think some bad actors will take advantage of the sentiment expressed in the show. Everyone and his uncle skillfully plays the victim card these days.

Re: this season's political agenda
I'm done with it if this is the new "Homeland." It gets a bit boring when almost every show turns into an "America bad / Muslim good" plot line.
Re: this season's political agenda
Homeland always managed to stay politically neutral in the past. It does not quite feel that way currently. I will stick with it to see. It has been a great ride for years so I owe it a fair chance for awhile.
Re: this season's political agenda
Really? I thought they did a good job showing Carries viewpoints vs the FBI character. I didn't think the writers were taking a stand one way or another just like they didn't when Carrie and Abu Nazir had their "who really is the terrorist" conversation. And just like the discussion between Haqqani and Saul. They want us to think about how far the first amendment goes and I think they portrayed it well. But I also don't watch this show to affirm my politics beliefs, which from a lot of people on this board they do, and the first hint of some cognitive dissonance they want to turn away.
Re: this season's political agenda
Completely agree with you, this show offers a ton of different views for the audience to see, and I think that it's important to be made aware that islamaphobia is a thing but to not be naive when it comes to terrorists - they're a thing too. So even though Carrie is all for muslims now doesn't mean that the show is. I mean, Saul certainly isn't, and he's a fan favorite
Re: this season's political agenda
Are we understanding the difference between Muslims and terrorists? Whether Carrie supports Muslims or the show is supporting Muslims makes no difference. They should finally shine a positive light on a minority that's been through enough scrutiny already and this show has used one too many extremists as the bad guys. The complaints people are making about this more liberal approach implies they would rather see a fanatic preaching his violent crusade so we can continue to put a harsher label on Muslims and think of them as the best bad guys in a geo-political genre for the modern age. I'm sure this season will inevitably bring in another crazed jihadist before it's over to keep intact with the show's recurring antagonist troupe but that doesn't mean it shouldn't open up space to look at the Muslim community with more heart and sympathy for citizens who just want to live and belong without resorting to a united armed assault on the country.
Re: this season's political agenda
The innocent Muslim in this season was celebrating the violence committed by radials. Much like the majority of Muslims. Maybe not violent themselves but condoning the action.
Re: this season's political agenda
Islamaphobia isn't really a thing. So many so-called incidents were hoaxes. Anti-Semitism is a much bigger "thing" and usually perpetrated by muslims. Besides, a phobia is an irrational fear. After 9/11 (and hundreds of other incidents) fearing muslims is not irrational.

Great post.

Re: this season's political agenda
Same here. I'm so sick of this new trend of white bad people , Muslim good guy. I hope I'm wrong but this season looks like was written but the young turks and some hosts from CNN and MSNBC. Try to make a show where a white nationalist guy made a video bragging about white people killing muslims and posted on the internet and Carrie trying to help him get out of prison because he is innocent and because "free speech", etc and the left will burn again some cars and break some windows. This looks like the long version of another crap movie, Imperiumwith harry potter.

Re: this season's political agenda
Exactly this. If the roles are reversed, the Left reverses. Always thought it was strange that they get away with that.
Re: this season's political agenda
You're right. I haven't watched this season because I am tired of lefties in Hollywood shoving their political agenda down everyone's throats.
Re: this season's political agenda
I'm still holding out hope for the show. I'm predicting that they're going this route to try and fool you for when the kid actually does turn out to be a terrorist, proving that all that PC rubbish is dangerous.
Re: this season's political agenda
The producers do not have that level of courage.
They would be ostracized by Hollywood and the libtard left.

this season's political agenda
It is clear this season has a political agenda: "atonement" for past portrayals of Muslims and "freedom of speech." So how predictable is it that Sekou Bah Jr is NOT a terrorist.
