Gorky Park : How did they manage to film in Moscow?
Re: How did they manage to film in Moscow?
This film was filmed nowhere near Moscow.
It was filmed in Helsinki (used mainly as Moscow) and Stockholm!

Re: How did they manage to film in Moscow?
Thanks for the information. With "White Nights" in mind, I now wonder if this was true or just another lie to the Russian authorities. Helsinki is not typically Russian in its architecture or surroundings.
Re: How did they manage to film in Moscow?
Having been to both Helsinki and Moscow, you are right in that it is not typically Russian, but on cold winters days, it does look very simular!
Remember Finland was ruled by Russia right up to early 1900's and Helsinki was ordered to be rebuilt under to make feel less like Sweden and more like Russia and as a result, Helsinki is very unique compared to Oslo and Stokholm!
Also heard rumors that part of Gorky Park was even filmed in Edinburgh (apparently the Park scene at the start of the movie but no idea how true this is!)

Re: How did they manage to film in Moscow?
In Glasgow just now they are filming the new brad pitt movie, and on the local news they were talking about other movies filmed in the city, and they mentioned a scene in gorky park being filmed in Glasgow.
Re: How did they manage to film in Moscow?
Was it an interior scene?
Re: How did they manage to film in Moscow?
Reports are its a night scene with a bridge on the Clyde being used.
There are some mentions to it online, but they must have filmed it really fast and in such a breif scene, as I can not find it in the movie

Park scene in the beginning is also filmed in Helsinki.
Re: How did they manage to film in Moscow?
During the cold war very few films were shot in Russia with Finland and other countries standing in for Russia.
Its that man again!!

How did they manage to film in Moscow?
I know that in White Nights (1985), most parts of the film were actually shot in St. Petersburg and not in Helsinki which was the official statement at the time.
