The Mystery of Natalie Wood : Who was the rapist?

Who was the rapist?

I tried to find Roy Tremaine, but with no luck.

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Re: Who was the rapist?

some people say its kirk douglas

Heath Ledger Come Back,
This isn't funny at all.

Re: Who was the rapist?

Which seems pretty unlikely, actually.

"Namu-myoho-renge-kyo"

Re: Who was the rapist?

Yeah, it's hard to think Kirk Douglas would do something like that.. but, I've read that some people believe he was responsible for the disappearance of a hollywood starlet, named Jean Spangler. Google it.

Re: Who was the rapist?

Douglas brags about his many "conquests" in his various books. I don't find it hard to believe that it was him.

Re: Who was the rapist?

Quite a few people involved in the making of Saturn 3 have stated that Kirk was a bit of a perv and had a perchant for being in the nude in front of people just to startle them - and the account of all this malarkey was not recounted in a 'ha ha' funny sort of way, but in a 'creepy, why is he doing this' sort of manner; his dirty-old-man schtick in 'Diamonds' (1999) has done nothing to dispel such rumors .

Re: Who was the rapist?

Kirk may also have had a thing for younger women - prior to marrying Anne Buydens he was engaged to the much younger Pier Angeli, whom he supposedly broke things off with because she wouldn't have sex with him. He wrote in one of his autobios that while it was okay for him to be unfaithful (he called it "pursuing his biological right"), he didn't think that it was okay if women saw other men if they were already in a relationship. You can read about their relationship in "Pier Angeli: A Fragile Life" by Jane Allen.

Re: Who was the rapist?

What man doesn't have a thing for younger women lol .

I'd like a chance t' shoot at an educated man once in my life .

Re: Who was the rapist?

Actually it may not be that unlikely. I'm not saying this makes it definite, but when I heard it, my eyes widened and I let out a little gasp.

Around 2005 I was able to watch this movie again after not seeing it for years. When the rape scene came along, I grabbed my laptop trying to find if someone had answers as to who they thought "Roy Tremaine" could be and of course the most hits I got was Kirk Douglas. I didn't think much of it after that.

A few months later, I was up 3:00 in the morning and discovered on Game Show Network "What's My Line" and "The Name's the Same". I fell in love with those games, I started to DVR both to watch in the evening. On What's my Line, they always had that special round where a celeb appears and the blindfolded panel has to guess who it could be under the disguised voice. The Name's the Same version of that was to have a celeb on and have the panel try to figure out what occupation the celeb would LOVE to have if they weren't celebrities, actors, etc.

Kirk Douglas was the guest on one of those episodes and my mind went back to the info I found on him on Woods. Of course before they start they'd show the audience what occupation he would choose

He chose to be a wrestling coach for Vassar College. Vassar as in the then all girls college. A coach for their wrestling team. A sport that involves a lot of touching and feeling but most of all the fight for power and control. Tad creepy for me especially when his face lit up like a Christmas tree talking about it.

For the longest time I thought I was overdoing the thinking, but this whole Penn State scandal and the media showing interviews from the past of the guy saying how much he Loves children made me realize it's possible that a simple, action one day may seems harmless but the next day becomes completely disgusting. That episode is what comes to mind whenever I see something with Douglas now but like I said not definite but can raise eyebrows IMO.

Sam:Who the hell is John F. Kennedy?

Re: Who was the rapist?

The following is some pertinent information referring to Natalie's rape and Kirk Douglas:

This secret rape came out years ago when some of Natalie's close friends and family were interviewed for the book 'Natasha', such as: Jackie Estes (who was Natalie's maid of honor during her first marriage to Wagner) and Mary Ann, an ex-boyfriend (named Scott Marlowe), her sister Lana, and even Dennis Hopper had been interviewed.

All signs point to Kirk:

1. The very famous actor/producer who raped her was a married family man. Kirk was also a successful producer and married at the time this happened.

2. Kirk admitted in his most recent/last book that there was a time in his life he liked "violent sex"he had anger issues and would sometimes take it out on women.

3. Kirk has done three movies that deal with rape: The Last Train from Gun Hill, Town Without Pity, and In Harm's Way.

4. Plus, Natalie refused to work with Kirk in the 1959 movie The Devil's Disciple "for personal reasons".

5. The actor who raped her is over 20 years older than her and Kirk is 22 years older than Natalie.

6. The famous actor/producer who did this is still living and Kirk is still alive.

7. From the interviews, the video below backs up exactly what the following paragraph from 'Natasha' states:
"afterbeing named "Most Popular New Star of 1956" by Modern Screen in a ceremony hosted by Louella Parsons"At the event, the movie star whom Natalie told close friends had raped her sat near her during the ceremony, flashing his charismatic grin as if nothing had ever happened."
Natalie Wood, always beautiful, always happy starpretending to adore the famous actor beside her whom she despised."

*Now here is that same award ceremony and that is none other than Kirk Douglas who is sitting near her on the couch and "flashing his charismatic grin"this is within the first 3 minutes of the video:

8. Natalie's friend Jackie wonders still, "how this man can live with himself."

The rape happened in 1955 when she was still 16 years old:

The famous actor/producer asked her to his hotel suite to read a script for a movie that he was producing.
He offered her a drink, they started to talk, and he then told her, "I've always wanted to *beep* you."
In the way the actor/producer was talking, Natalie began to realize there was no script and it was just a ruse to get her there alone with him.

Natalie reached for her purse and started to leave, but the star dragged her across the room and threw her on the bed.
She tried to fight him, but he told her if she fought it would be painful and proceeded to rip her clothes off.
Afterwards, he threatened her and told her not to say anything to anyone.

Jackie heard about this the following morning at 8 o'clock when Natalie located her at a girlfriend's house, "Natalie tracked me downand she was hysterical.
She looked like hell - her eyes were swollen and red. She had no makeup on and she was shaking. She fumbled for her sunglasses and told me, 'I was raped last night.'
"She was afraid to tell her mother. She threw herself on her bed and sobbed saying, 'It was awful, I was so scared.' Natalie was terrified she might be pregnantshe cleaned herself up compulsively, saying, "what am I going to do"

Her mother Maria, (the major stage mother that she was and thinking mostly of Natalie's status in Hollywood) persuaded her not to go to the police because the scandal could have damaged her career.

Both Jackie and Dennis Hopper suggested to Natalie to call the police and both remembered that she was worried that if she reported the popular, powerful movie star had raped her that it would ruin her career.
Hopper asserts, "it would have, at the time, the studio system controlled us really."

After a few days, Natalie had to go to a doctor to stop the bleeding and the pain.

Natalie's friends acknowledged that Natalie "hated" her former screen idol, "shuddering" if she heard his name mentioned.

She kept the horrible secret and behave like nothing happened if their paths intersected at an event or whereverNatalie was too schooled by her mother Maria, in Hollywood politics to cross a powerful movie star.

Re: Who was the rapist?

teevee there's a picture of them together smiling in this very film. I couldn't find it otherwise i would of posted it

Re: Who was the rapist?

bump.

Re: Who was the rapist?

Here is a rare photo of Kirk and Natalie together before the terrible atrocity:

http://i769.photobucket.com/albums/xx339/LilacGlow/KirkNatalie1955.jpg

This photo was originally shown in the movie of her life: The Mystery of Natalie Wood (2004)

Re: Who was the rapist?

3. Kirk has done three movies that deal with rape: The Last Train from Gun Hill, Town Without Pity, and In Harm's Way.

teevee - this really isn't any kind of "evidence" against Douglas he did a lot of movies about a lot of subjects, many about the same subject again and again it doesn't mean he lives out his off-screen life in the same subject of any of films if he's played the role of a mob boss several times it doesn't mean he goes around in real life acting like a mob boss sorry, it just isn't a good piece of evidence

There are plenty of men as well who were twenty years older than Natalie Wood and worked in the film industry at the time and would have had contact with Ms. Wood in this way

however, you do provide some provocative pieces of documentation very interesting subject matter which i was completely unaware of i've only rarely followed the off-screen lives of certain actors since i'm really not that interested in their lives other than what they give us up on the screen this however is a very startling story i had no idea there was talk about this at all i'd heard of the 'odd' circumstances surrounding Ms. Wood's death but that was about it very provocative stuff indeed

take care,

Re: Who was the rapist?

You have to ask yourself why Robert Wagner didn't kick his ass.

In the event KD dies, are any of the people who know the identity of the rapist still alive?

Always the officiant, never the bride.

Re: Who was the rapist?

That was cool she had a caring bf like Dennis.

Re: Who was the rapist?

It was Kirk Douglas.

Re: Who was the rapist?

I've always heard that it was Kirk Douglas. Lana Wood knows, and has said she will reveal the name of the rapist after he dies. Douglas is still alive.
I would have thought that Sinatra would've had one of his mob connections "take care of" the Wessel who hurt Natalie.

Re: Who was the rapist?

That's supposed to be "weasel."
I'm no fan of Sinatra whatsoever, and that was merely a joke.

Re: Who was the rapist?

I always thought it was Burt Lancaster. He was known for slapping women around and forcing them to have oral sex. He was arrogant, unconscionable and thought he was smarter than everyone else. I thought the actor looked like Burt Lancaster myself.

Re: Who was the rapist?

If it was Kirk Douglas, surely its not too late to prosecute? Many people who are alive must know who it was. Old age hasn't stopped the law going after Bill Cosby or Rolf Harris. If he did it once, might be possible he did it multiple times. Might prompt others to come forward. So the victim isn't around, which makes it hard, but would have thought those close to Natalie would have done something. A disgrace.

Re: Who was the rapist?

That video was creepy. Just the way that he was sitting over her. ..I mean there was space to sit on the sofa but he had to tower over her in a sense like he was showing that he was more powerful than she. Plus, she was damn nearly in Perkins lap, not literally, but seriously, her body language alone was like "I don't want you near me".
