Re: Enter Sandman

In Mustaine's recently published memoir, he claims that he wrote and recorded a song around the same time Metallica was recording its Black Album that included the same prayer lyrics as Enter Sandman ("Now I lay you down to sleep"). He doesn't outright say that they stole it, but he notes that it's quite a coincidence, with the implication that perhaps a demo copy of his song made its way to Metallica and their producer, or that someone had heard it and suggested the lyrics to James.

And it was just the use of the prayer - there was no other similarity between the songs.

Re: Enter Sandman

The song Dave Mustaine is refering to that has the Lord's Prayer is "Go to Hell". It was a song Megadeth wrote for the the film Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

The original title to the film was going to be "Bill and Ted Go to Hell".

Re: Enter Sandman

That is a very well known prayer. I would guess it is also in the public domain. You can't steal something from someone who doesn't own it in the first place.
